My complements to Target
The have the worlds BEST Halloween decor LOL By which I mean - decor that can be picked up for 75% off and turned into Chrismas decor! GREAT little gargoyles ( just a touch of gold paint and... ) Plus those great 'spooky' planters that... not so spooky when painted, and WAY cheaper than the ones in the hardware stores. Primo for holding little pine trees. (So it has a bat on the side - mixed in with all the gothing swirl. My house has meaner things carved into the furniture. (The dining room table bites back - it's only fair. ) And the pinecone wreaths... where is there a difference between 'Fall Fesitval' pinecones and 'Christmas' pinecones. Pick off some oak leaves. Pin in some holly picks. Good to go. Anyway - happy discovery. WAY less than I was expecting to shell out. For better stuff. Public taste is getting shockingly good sometimes. |

Duckslash!!!!
Watching an old 'Mythbusters' ep. Two 'volunteer' ducks used in a sound experiment - Bob and Roy - and afterwards? They get a 'reward'. Instead of returning to the farm, (I am quoting) "Bob & Roy have earned a rent free Bayside home for life". (Cut to shot of huddled ducks beak-to-beak in pretty pink duck-house.) Tell me - could they GET any more gay?? *smirk* And they're not even penguins*rimshot* Current Mood: tired |

What makes people think.... (or don't they) ?
Sorta a non-meta ('cause I'm really not into the send-it-on thing) but.... I could use some outward reflection. The question is: What makes some people assume that *everyone* in earshot *must* agree with them? (Mind you - I'm not going the 'should' or 'will - after-explanation' route. I'm talking just blatant no-reason-given no-other-option-out-there assumption. The type that leads to severe foot-in-mouth disease.) Question brought up by situations at work/school today. Two incidences - both WAY minor. (One of the 'either-option-not-the-end-of-the-earth' category, and one even *less* important. More like 'I'm-almost-embarrassed-to-waste-thought-h aving-an-opinion. One I agreed with ( sorta) and one I might not - if I cared.) What caught my interest me was the way that the speakers didn't even both with the 'if-we-all-consider' bit. They just went on and stated the revelation from on high - and I could see the pause-and-blink of the others around me who I happened to know did NOT share said opinion. There followed not a great debate - but that sorta uncomfortable be-somewhere-else movement. Counting in my head - I'm pretty certain that in both instances the result is going to be... not what the speaker(s) anticipate. And I also suspect that they will be utterly confused as to how this result ( them on the 'losing' end ) could have ever come about. But that's not my question. My question is: As mentioned above - why don't people *consider* the possibility of 'opposition' views? Is it because: a) We are too polite to speak up when we disagree? Because people who do 'answer' tend to disagree 'indirectly; ( "Jane - you ignorant slut" being funny on SNL - but destructive in RL ) do they just not *hear* what is being said? or b) They do see the 'clues' - but they just don't believe what they see is 'real' . They dismiss the speakers as 'minority' rather then 'representative'. Current Mood: contemplative |

In honor of insanity....
In honor of insanity.... and the discussion of crossovers and *yeeehhh* ficables... (Open to the first five only - as I just don't have that much spare time ) Give me two characters ( from different sources) who SHOULD NOT MEET- and if possible I'll drabble them. (No anime or games please, since I know nothing about that and... the result would be lousy fic. More lousey fic. Whatever.) |

more Numb3rs - slight slight spoilers seasin 1.
Watching season 1 - and it is so delightful to see a show set in LA that is.... drumroll... actually set in LA. Much fun recognising the sites - and the little details like the house. *smile* One bitch ( this is the spoiler-ette ) Sniper Zero? Helicopter should have been lower - because at that altitude? Wouldn't have attracted attention from anyone. (Much less bad guy ) There are ALWAYS newscopters over the downtown(s). Police too. Not as many as there used to be ( since you-know) but still... lots. Traffic control, ya know. Current Mood: blank |

Interesting percept. quirk - re: Numb3rs (no spoilers)
Just an observation ON observation. Reading Numb3rs fic and... suprised that several ficcers made a point of the Epps being Jewish. (Cannon? I have NO idea!) The interesting bit ( to me - at least) was that *I* had watched season 1 considering the family to be Armenian. Like - it had seemed SO OBVIOUS. Not a declaration of right/wrong here - just amused at how (evidently) the same data leads to different perceptions. Current Mood: because of work on Monday |
